No BitLocker? You suffer!

Are you utilizing BitLocker for your Windows PC?

あなたのWindows PCではBitLockerを使っていますか？

If the answer is yes, you can ignore this article.

もし答えがイエスなら、この記事は無視していただいて結構です。

If you aren't sure .. do you see the old style screen like below when you power-on your PC?

もし確信が持てないなら .. PCの電源を入れたときに、以下のような古いスタイルの画面が表示されますか？

If the answer is No,

you (or your IT administrator) might be underestimating the risk - even an low level attacker can read your locally stored data in minutes without knowing your password.

The attacking tricks are .. 攻撃手口は ..

1. to unscrew your PC and remove the case cover .. PCのネジを緩めて、カバーを取り外す。

2. to plug out the hard disk drive (HDD) .. ハードディスクドライブ(HDD)を取り外す。

3. to plug in the HDD to the attacker's PC

攻撃者のPCにHDDを接続する。

4. Then, the HDD can start to be seen as 2nd drive (i.e. D: drive) like normal USB thumb drive. The attacker doesn't need your password this time.

すると、通常のUSBメモリと同様に、HDDが第2ドライブ（D:ドライブ）として認識されるようになります。攻撃者は今回、あなたのパスワードを必要としません。

The most difficult part is physical access to your PC.

Activated BitLocker can be the best protection method at 4,

since BitLocker encrypts your hard disk and lock it with password.

Please ask your IT administrator for the activation, setup and further help.

BitLocker will keep your local data secured when you might forget your PC in a plane or train. Or, If you want to give your too old PC to someone, you can do it just asking for formatting HDD without conveying your password.
